What

We create original, hand-drawn, posters featuring educational mental health themes aimed at families, educators, carers and guardians of young people. Our posters are designed to be coloured in together and proudly displayed in homes, classrooms and community spaces to spark curiosity, promote learning and invite dialogue between trusted adults and young people.

Engaging in a relaxing, shared activity helps reinforce the protective factors for positive mental health and wellbeing.

Protective factors include trust, education, self-awareness and reflection, vocabulary, supportive relationships, self-confidence, a feeling of control, and hope. Strengthening these factors improves our ability to cope with life’s ups and downs.

Colouring relaxes our minds and bodies, and relieves stress. Many young people find direct engagement uncomfortable, demanding and stressful. The format of our posters supports the sideways-listening and shared activity techniques commonly used by youth workers, teachers, therapists and medical professionals to help reduce the pressure of starting direct conversations.

Children and young people might ask questions you don’t know the answer to and that is perfectly fine. You don't need to be an expert or have all the answers to start making a difference, just a kind heart, a listening ear, and an open mind.  Being honest about our own learning journey helps to normalise theirs, and we are here to help you on that journey.

The content of our posters is informed by research, backed by science, and inspired by conversations with our mentors who help provoke deeper thought, new insights, and fresh ideas!

Each poster comes with a free Ideas to Draw On™ guide containing additional content information and ideas. We’ve also included suggestions for conversation starters from our mentors, to help you feel more confident and supported in starting Colourful Conversations about mental health with the children and young people today.
